I’m Daniel Flaumenhaft, a native speaker of English and long-time Philadelphia resident with over 25 years of professional editing experience. I also work part-time as a project-based posteditor, annotator, and research project coordinator at the Linguistic Data Consortium.
I specialize in editing English language publications for non-native speakers, especially social science and humanities scholars, and recent clients have included anthropologists, historians, political scientists, and psychologists from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, and Turkey. I’ve also written and/or edited exhibits and publications on the history of chemistry, cooperatives, and urban planning; concert programs, listening guides, and press releases; and technical manuals.
After graduate studies in US history and urban studies at the University of Pennsylvania, I worked there and at the Science History Institute for several years before becoming the founding director of Crossroads Music, a Philadelphia nonprofit organization that organized concerts of music from specific cultural communities throughout the world from 2003 until 2020. I’ve also worked as an essay evaluator for standardized college entrance and English proficiency tests and taught English in Mexico.
